Dr. Nina Ogrinc
Dr. Nina Ogrinc is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Proteomics and metabolomics at Leiden University Medical Center. Since completing her PhD at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, she has advanced mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) across academic and clinical settings, through high-throughput, multimodal biomarker discovery, and technological innovation.
Her current research integrates spatial metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics to define molecular disease phenotypes. She aims to translate these discoveries from biomarker screening toward diagnostics and targeted therapies. Since 2026, she serves as President-Elect of IMSIS Europe, providing an opportunity to help shape the future direction of the MSI field.
Within MERIT, Dr. Ogrinc will co-supervise a PhD together with Elena Sanchez-Lopez and Prof. Martin Giera.
