Dr. Elena Sánchez López
Dr. Elena Sánchez López is a Researcher at the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics of the Leiden University Medical Center. She earned her PhD in Analytical Chemistry in 2017, receiving distinguished awards including the Best PhD thesis by the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry, and the PhD Extraordinary Award by the University of Alcalá. Following the award of a Marie Sklodowska Curie - COFUND postdoctoral grant, she moved to the Netherlands in 2018.
For more than 10 years, Dr. Elena Sánchez López has been developing innovative untargeted and targeted mass spectrometry-based metabolomic and lipidomic strategies to investigate biological processes across cellular and organ systems. Her research has led to more than 40 scientific publications, of which 2 are last-author contributions, as well as 9 book chapters and 1 book on clinical metabolomics (Springer).
Within MERIT, Dr. Elena Sánchez López will co-supervise a doctoral candidate alongside Dr. Nina Ogrinc and Prof. Dr. Martin Giera.
